KISS: Typography

I’ve been reading quite a bit about typography today, something that I (and probably you) have thought very little about.
Some of what I read felt like just plain common sense, yet something that needed to be said (read). I’m of the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) school and Mike Smith’s first “DO NOT” in his list of 20 Do’s and Don’ts of Effective Web Typography played right into that. DO NOT use too many different font faces on the page.

Learning instead of creating… for now.

I started out working on not one, but two themes over the past few days and realized that while I do have a lot of CSS knowledge, I’m still a little lacking in the practice and experience departments.
I read through HTMLDog‘s CSS tutorial, beginner, intermediate and advanced and while I already knew most of what was there, I did manage to pick up a few things, like what it means when there are two numbers for the font separated by a slash. The first is font-size, the second is line-height.

I added a QR Code to the sidebar of jasonmayoff.com.
It contains my contact information (phone #, name etc). If you scan it into your smartphone it’ll ask if you want to save the contact. I recommend you say yes, so that anytime you need my services you can easily find me.
Tried adding a Slick Contact Form…

… and ended up adding a slick contact form
I tried to add something called Slick Contact Form to the contact page at jasonmayoff.com, but there appeared to be a conflict with JFlow Plus, the plugin that makes the images on the front page rotate.
